THE CAPTAIN

David Gouaillier

Holding a PhD in robotics and co-founder of Aldebaran Robotics in 2005, David Gouaillier completed his thesis on the design of the NAO humanoid robot, which has proven highly effective for children with autism spectrum disorders.
As a movement specialist, David decided to channel his technical skills into human mobility. He founded ORTHOPUS in November 2018.

Meet the crew

Thibault

R&D Coordinator & Mechatronics Engineer

With seamless agility and unwavering perseverance, Thibault leads the R&D team. He juggles project management, design, and strategy while keeping the team running smoothly. An eco-warrior at heart and deeply altruistic, he can unleash boundless energy whenever a project resonates with his values.

Dorothée

Head of Strategy & Impact

A specialist in sustainable business, Dorothée guides ORTHOPUS’s impact strategy. Attentive to societal shifts and innovations, she adjusts priorities with agility and an open mind. Once she decides to bring a project to life, nothing can stop her (except maybe a karaoke session).

Florian

Embedded Systems Engineer

Combining electronics, electromagnetic testing, and software development, Florian is our embedded software architect. He designs the entire technical environment to host the code that drives our robots. His special skills? Flambéed bananas and top-tier costumes!

Côme

Mechatronics Engineer & PhD

Côme works on robot control algorithms—meaning he writes the code that drives the motors. He sometimes covers whiteboards with complex equations just like in the movies! A lover of puns and a staunch cycling advocate, Côme also plays the trumpet in a Nantes brass band.

Thomas

Robotics Engineer & PhD

A jack-of-all-trades expert, Thomas always comes up with a solution for any technical problem. He designed the first prototype of our robotic arm and the actuators that make it work. As our resident wildlife paparazzi, he loves snapping photos of squirrels in Saint-Brévin or wild boars in Corsica—much to our delight!

Mona

Communication & Marketing Manager

Making everything crystal clear for our users and customers is her obsession. From community management and branding to drafting brochures, she executes our brand strategy across web, print, and events. Acting as an “engineer-to-human” translator, she quietly (or not so quietly) advocates for open-source culture.

Léa

Regulatory Affairs Officer

Deeply tuned in to user interests and fiercely honest, Léa plays a key role in ensuring the safety and efficacy of our devices. She manages regulatory compliance and oversees clinical trials. She’s also our walking weather station—she always knows where to find the sun!

Sylvain

Production Manager

A genius for technical solutions and an outstanding negotiator, Sylvain oversees the assembly of ORTHOPUS products. He pays meticulous attention to part inspection, traceability, and process optimization. A lover of cats and micromechanics, he has a deep passion for watchmaking and scale modeling.

Sébastien

Care Service & Sales Manager

With a keen eye for detail, Sébastien orchestrates product shipping, trade show organization, and user testing prep. His top priority: the comfort of those who live with or install our robots. This sci-fi enthusiast is also passionate about beekeeping, climbing, and… otters!

Baptiste

Project Manager

Talk to him about V-models, product roadmaps, or POC-DVT-EVT: Baptiste coordinates our design processes with poise and precision. With him, everything is strictly squared away, but a joke is never far off. A hacker at heart, he is passionate about design and open source.

Pierre

Content Manager

Headphones glued to his ears, Pierre is the artist of ORTHOPUS. He designs and rolls out our visual identity online and in print, editing videos as effortlessly as he designs packaging. Off the clock, he’s an active member of the fashion police and fluent in Spanish after 10 p.m.

Sophie

Partnerships & Export Manager

Thanks to her extensive international experience and boundless energy, Sophie drives business development at ORTHOPUS. Equally comfortable running product demos or negotiating contracts, and an Olympic champion of cringe jokes: she’s our very own Taylor Swift!

Maëlle

Office Manager

Managing an Airtable database? Calculating the exact amount of beer needed for a pirate outing? Reconciling accounts in record time? No problem for Maëlle, who masters Excel just as easily as workshop facilitation. This Swiss Army knife of a person is also a tinkering enthusiast, especially with sound and paper!

Iséa

Mechatronics Engineer

She can disassemble and reassemble our robotic arm with her eyes closed, or dictate instructions to it in C++. When Iséa isn’t robot-whispering, she’s training her wolfdog Volk, the crew’s mascot! Hooked on Japanese culture, she’s an anime expert and cosplayer.

Pauline

Industrialization Officer

With her unfailing good mood, Pauline is the key link allowing us to transition from a few prototypes to full-scale mass production. She juggles supplier communications and tool management just as effortlessly as musical theater and CrossFit!

Paul

Mechatronics Engineer

An extreme explorer, Paul always has a technical solution to any problem: he designs, fine-tunes, and optimizes the mechanical components of our robots. On his motorcycle, in his vintage apple-green Renault 4L, or even in an airplane, this tireless life of the party always has the right vehicle for the occasion!

Valérie

Production Operator

With solid expertise in assembly and manufacturing (from Waterman, Neosteo, and Quovadis), Valérie brings utmost rigor to assembling ORTHOPUS devices. You’ll never catch this hard rock fan wearing anything other than black, yet her desk is filled with colorful unicorns!

Olive

Quality Assurance Officer

When she explains quality processes, everything clicks and falls into place. Experienced in health engineering, Olive helps build our quality management system. When she’s not applying industry standards, she dances and sings like nobody else!

Hermine

Production Operator

With her, everything is clean, neat, and organized down to the millimeter: alongside Valérie, Hermine assembles our medical devices with remarkable precision. A die-hard football fan, she supports the Ivorian national team through thick and thin. She’s also a twerk instructor in her spare time.

Corentin

Software & DevOps Industrialization Engineer

Lines of code hold no secrets for “Coco,” who designs the entire software architecture powering the ORTHOPUS Explorer. Climbing, board games, and metal concerts are all part of the hobbies of this pirate from Lille (yes, landlocked pirates do exist!).

Alain

Electronics Engineer

Behind his witty slogan t-shirts lies a true expert in electrical safety and EMC. He leads the lifecycle of the electronic systems in our robots. As the veteran of the team, Alain is always ready for a game of chess, table tennis, or a Wushu demonstration!
